According to Chinese legend, greatness doesn’t come easy. It takes at least three visits. That’s how Liu Bei, an ambitious warlord from the Three Kingdoms era, finally convinced the brilliant strategist Zhuge Liang to join his cause: with three humble visits to his thatched cottage. That story became our inspiration, and our name. Sanku Maots’ai (三顾冒菜) means “Three Visits Maotsai”: a nod to patience, persistence, and the pursuit of something truly worth it. That’s how we see hot pot too: a ritual, a choice, a delicious twist of fate. Because good things take time. Great things take broth. And destiny? Destiny comes in your bowl.

Then watch it all come together, cooked fresh before your eyes by our kitchen crew. Tofu or shrimp? Lotus root or enoki mushrooms? Ricecake or sweet potato noodles? You call the shots. Our story began in Deyang, Szechuan, where Sanku Maotsai opened its first kitchen in 2008. Fast-forward 4,000 stores and 300 cities later, here we are: in the heart of Berlin.
